“Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.”

These sacred words, spoken by Jesus Himself, are among the most well-known in all of Christianity. They remind us that the will of God is higher than ours, and His Kingdom—not of this world—is the true hope of the believer.

Jesus said:“My Kingdom is not of this world. If it were, My servants would fight to prevent My arrest. But now My Kingdom is from another place.”Pilate asked Him, “So, You are a King then?”And Jesus answered:“You say that I am a King. For this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world: to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”(John 18:36–37)

But many of His followers turned away. They had been looking for an earthly king—a ruler with power, wealth, and might. They could not separate the spiritual from the carnal. And their faith crashed into their own expectations.

Satan had once offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the earth,if only He would bow and worship. It was the temptation of power—the bait of compromise. But listen:Satan cannot be bargained with. You cannot serve him “just a little.”He’ll offer money, but demand your soul. He’ll give you power, but chain you to his laws.

And so it was then:Many who had once embraced the Truth became enticed. They began to build their own kingdoms—hierarchies, structures, competition, and pride.Without even realizing it, they handed over the reins to the prince of this world.

Paul, the Apostle, wrote with brokenness and biting irony:

“Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich! You have begun to reign—and that without us!How I wish that you really had begun to reign so that we also might reign with you!For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on display at the end of the procession, like those condemned to die.We have been made a spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as well as to human beings. We are fools for Christ, but you are so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are honored, we are dishonored.”(1 Corinthians 4:8–10)

Paul wasn’t just being sarcastic. He was revealing the truth:Their honor was of the world.Their wisdom was born of pride. And true discipleship was nowhere to be found.

You see, the real Kingdom of God does not come with applause, titles, or stages. It’s not wrapped in politics, pride, or platforms.History groans with examples of what happens when the spiritual is twisted into the political—and becomes a tool of oppression, rather than redemption.

And yet—Christ conquered.

He defeated the devil not with armies, but with obedience. Not with a throne, but with a cross. He overcame every temptation, and in Him was no sin.(1 Peter 2:22)

His victory was eternal. His Kingdom came to life on earth—within the hearts of men and women. It moves quietly, like leaven in the dough—transforming lives from the inside out.It changes hearts. It reshapes character. It makes the immoral clean and the broken whole.

The light of that Kingdom still shines in those who choose Truth. And that is the power of the Gospel—Faith in Christ changes the very nature of this world.God’s will is done on earth through every soul that believes in eternal life.

Jesus said:“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.” (Matthew 28:18)And He also said:“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart—I have overcome the world.”(John 16:33)

So let the power of His Spirit be with you—His wisdom, His fire, and His glory.

Amen.
