šŸŒ The World as a System — KosmosĀ (ĪŗĻŒĻƒĪ¼ĪæĻ‚)

This is the external, visible world — society, culture, values, and structures that often stand in opposition to God.

šŸ“– ā€œDo not love the world (kosmos) or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.ā€ā€” 1 John 2:15

Here, ā€œworldā€ means the system that tries to exist withoutĀ God.To be a friend of this world is to become an enemy of God:

šŸ“– ā€œFriendship with the world is enmity with God.ā€ā€” James 4:4

In this sense, kosmosĀ represents a spiritual counterfeit — the opposite of God’s Kingdom. It’s a domain ruled by ā€œthe prince of this worldā€Ā (John 12:31) — Satan, the deceiver of souls.

šŸ•Šļø The Peace of God — Eirēnē (εἰρήνη)

In contrast, the Bible speaks of another ā€œworldā€ — an inner world, a peace that comes from God. This is not a place, but a state of the heart — calm, rest, blessing — a gift of the Holy Spirit.

šŸ“– ā€œPeace (eirēnē) I leave with you; My peace I give you.I do not give to you as the world (kosmos) gives.ā€ā€” John 14:27

Here, we see a striking contrast between two kinds of ā€œpeaceā€:

  • One is superficial, a false sense of calm offered by the world’s system.

  • The other is true, lasting peace — the kind only Christ gives to those who abide in Him.

This kind of peace cannot be faked. It doesn’t come from noise, comfort, or control — but from the Spirit. It is a fruit of the SpiritĀ (Galatians 5:22) and is found in union with Christ.

šŸ“– ā€œHe Himself is our peace… who has broken down every dividing wall.ā€ā€” Ephesians 2:14

āœļø Christ Didn’t Come to Make Peace with the World — He Came to Overcome It

šŸ“– ā€œIn this world (kosmos) you will have trouble. But take heart — I have overcome the world.ā€ā€” John 16:33

Jesus didn’t come to make us comfortable in this world —He came to call us outĀ of it.

šŸ“– ā€œMy prayer is not that You take them out of the world (kosmos), but that You protect them from the evil one.ā€ā€” John 17:15

šŸ”„ The Cross — Where True Peace (Eirēnē) Begins

Through the Cross, Jesus reconciled us to the Father and gave us true peace — eirēnē — restoration, forgiveness, wholeness.

There are two worlds — and two paths:

  • The world (kosmos)Ā offers surface-level success, but leads to spiritual death.

  • The peace (eirēnē)Ā of Christ offers inner life, leading to eternal joy.

šŸ“– ā€œWhat good is it for someone to gain the whole world (kosmos), yet forfeit their soul?ā€ā€” Mark 8:36
šŸ“– ā€œNo one can serve two masters.Either you will hate the one and love the other,or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.ā€ā€” Matthew 6:24

So… which world are youĀ living for?
